Bit O'Contexual

I really love GarbrielOrozco especially now that i'm trying to work a lot with symmetry. I love his use of pereception  which is really what I've been playing around with. I wanted to make photos look edited when they wern't.

Gabriel Orozco, I love the fact that this isin't a trick with mirrors or lights but he actually cut the car in half

The Hunt Museum Project

I was missing for this project but I got and extention till today so I've been working on it since.
I was really interested in the china bone combs in the hunt museum. They were beautifuly made and so fragile. I wanted to make a modern re-interpretation of the combs in as fragile a material I could get my hands on.
So I chose wax.

Assesments

I was treating the sculptures to fir to the body breif as sort of a 1 day project as i wasnt in for the majority of the 6 weeks and missed that projectand the doll one.

But surpirisingly im quite happy wiht the way things came together in the end

Sculptures to Fix to the body

I started to look at concealment and how you would hide or disguuise someone as someone else. I then began to think aboutfeatures and symmetry and if peoples faces would actually look good if they were perfectly symmetrical. I got the idea to put a mirror inbetween my face and my friends faces to map the face perfectly in half.

Sculpture at last

Havnt Updated my blog in a while as I was sick, but just getting after easter and jumping into a project was a very terrifying thing. I wasnt sure what to do or where to go with it. Basically I started casting my hand and it all came from their.

I was really intererested in taking the shape and characteristsics of the skin and trasfering it into wax.
I was really isnpired by death masks and wanted to make my own.

I wasnted to make them out of plaster but I thought wax was more appropriate to capture the fragility of the death mask. I liked taking them off my face when they were not really dry as they began to flatten out and lose shape. All you can see is the markings of my makeup.
