Sculpture at last

Havnt Updated my blog in a while as I was sick, but just getting after easter and jumping into a project was a very terrifying thing. I wasnt sure what to do or where to go with it. Basically I started casting my hand and it all came from their.

I was really intererested in taking the shape and characteristsics of the skin and trasfering it into wax.
I was really isnpired by death masks and wanted to make my own.

I wasnted to make them out of plaster but I thought wax was more appropriate to capture the fragility of the death mask. I liked taking them off my face when they were not really dry as they began to flatten out and lose shape. All you can see is the markings of my makeup.
